Introduction

Kanori Ino (1867-1925) was a pioneer in studies of Taiwan. Sent to the island in 1895 after the period of Japanese occupation to conduct anthropological research, Ino was the first to propose a comprehensive categorization of Taiwan's indigenous populations. His field studies produced numerous notes and research materials. This digitized collection of Ino’s materials includes manuscripts, field notes, journals, newspaper clippings and photographs from the collection held at the NTU Library and archives in Japan.
