There are 82 volumes of precious photo albums collected from the Taiwan Governor’ s Library in the National Taiwan Library’s “Collection of Data image system for Taiwan Shashin cho.” The photo albums were compiled during the Japanese Colonial Era, and those photos were taken from the Qing Dynasty to the Japanese Colonial Era. These photos show the politics, economics, history and local customs at that time. Besides the pictures, there are descriptions mainly written in Japanese in the albums. To make the “Collection of Data image system for Taiwan Shashin cho” more easily to use, it took the librarian of the National Taiwan Library nearly ten years for translating the Japanese descriptions of 10,215 photos into Chinese. Most photos are the only known copy in the world.
